Manly House Rock Excavation Project
This project involved a two storey house and garage demolition as well as a full site clear. The property was sitting on class 4 Hawksbury sandstone rock, which needed to be excavated down to allow for the new house construction. A combination of Rock Sawing and Rock Hammering was used to reduce the property levels to the required heights. This site required detailed excavation following the bulk excavation to prepare for the footings. The footings were cut with a Rock Saw and Hammered out.
Challenges
This job was special due to the Fairy Penguin collony at the foreshore of the site. There was much care taken in the excavation to not disturb the nesting birds and as per the council requirements work had to be undertaken outside of their breeding season.
